Curious about what was so funny, you continue scrolling down the page to find a surprisingly large face smiling back at you. His suit jacket looks fun. You conclude that must be Samuel, and keep scrolling down to find out some information about him.
A multi-faceted personality
The opening sentence in Samuel Isaacson’s profile description takes a while to get going, and then ends before telling you any information about him. You read on to discover that he is a family man, living in London with his wife and four young boys.
Wait a moment, you think, four boys? You can only conclude that he is constantly exhausted and must be surrounded by a certain type of energy. You wonder if he ever has any downtime, before realising that writing is probably his downtime.
As you continue to read, the webpage informs you that Samuel has been a fan of gamebooks since he was a child, returning repeatedly to Fighting Fantasy and Fabled Lands more than any other. As he grew older, he entered into the world of collaborative storytelling through tabletop role-playing games.
You read that his first gamebook was The Altimer , which reached #1 in its Amazon chart, and you make a mental note to pick up a copy. He has since published several more, and has multiple ideas at various stages of development.
